Tom Matta finished his MBA and Materials Engineering Bachelor’s with the 3-2 program in 2007. After graduating, he joined an alternative energy start-up in Pittsburgh, and has been there for over a year. He shares an apartment with alumnus Ryan Swick in Squirrel Hill, and spends his time with his girlfriend, snowboarding with his classmate and brother Eric Birner, and at SPIN with Karl Sjogren.”Cruising in the orange pearl with Captain Coleman” is another one of Tom’s favorite activities. He enjoys spending time with the current undergraduate brothers and “contributing to risk issues at the house when they have the slip’n’slide set up.” Tom also has been enjoying road trips to see the “fellas” in the concrete jungle, the bay area (“let’s do the Lake Tahoe 1/2 Marathon in 2009” he mentions), and the Penn Theta Alumni Classic, Chris’mas in July. He also participated in the Pittsburgh Marathon and loves visiting the chapter and catching up with the undergraduate brothers.
